Virgin Flies More Frequently

Hooray!  Even more people can now go and see for themselves the wonderful country that is South Africa.  Virgin Atlantic have just announced that they will be flying more frequently through the winter months to Cape Town.  Two more flights per week will be introduced from early December until the end of January, with a further increase to five a week from 29th January 2006 until the end of the peak winter season on 25th March 2006.

Steve Ridgway, Chief Executive of Virgin Atlantic, said:

"We are delighted to be able to offer passengers more flights to Cape Town over the busiest time of the year. Since we launched our Cape Town route in December 1999, there has been a high demand for this destination from both leisure and business travellers. We would love to add more services in the future to meet this demand."

Peter Barry, Country Manager of South Africa for Virgin Atlantic, said:

"I am very pleased that we can offer these extra services to Cape Town. We can now give even more passengers the opportunity to experience Virgin Atlantic`s fantastic inflight service. Upper Class passengers can enjoy four limo transfers per return journey, Drive Thru Check In at Heathrow, the brand new Heathrow Clubhouse, inflight beauty therapy and an onboard bar.

Premium Economy passengers can take advantage of the priority check in, priority boarding, a larger, more comfortable seat with more leg room and champagne on take off. Virgin Atlantic`s Premium and Economy passengers are offered three choices of main meal, free drinks, a rucksack style amenity kit filled with travel essentials and state of the art inflight entertainment system with a seat back TV screen for every passenger.

Virgin Atlantic`s current twice-weekly service is scheduled to operate between Heathrow and Cape Town on Fridays and Sundays between 30 October to 24 March 2006.

A new Wednesday service will start from 7 December, which will depart from Heathrow at 20.00 and arrive in Cape Town at 10.00 the next day. The return flight will depart on Thursdays at 12.25 from Cape Town and arrive at Heathrow the same day at 22.40.

From 29 January 2006, the five-weekly services will operate at a retimed schedule for the period up to 25 March 2006. Flights will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Heathrow at 18.00 arriving into Cape Town at 08.00 the next day. Return flights will operate from Cape Town on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays departing at 23.10 and arrive into Heathrow at 09.25 the next day. Flights in December and January will be operated with a Boeing 747-400. From January 29 flights will be operated with an Airbus 340-300.

Virgin Atlantic currently flies to 26 destinations worldwide, including Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Record numbers of Britons are travelling abroad for plastic surgery amid growing complaints about soaring prices for straightforward procedures in the UK.   

New figures show that the combination of sun, sea and surgery is persuading more than 10,000 Britons a year to travel, turning their backs on British-based surgeons who often charge up to four times as much as their collegues overseas for a basic operation.

The surge in demand has been fuelled by a wave of cheap deals.   Tummy tuck operations, which can cost as much as £6,500 in Britain, cost as little as £1,500 abroad - including the flights, accommodation and, often, a week's convalescence on the beach.

" I was able to check the surgeon's qualifications and everywhere he used to work. The cost was a third of what I was quoted in Britain. I could recuperate for two weeks afterwards. The rules are very strict in South Africa and the service was incredible. It was a much better experience than it would have been in Britain."
